Have you been struggling to find a safe place to share your thoughts and feelings? As your therapist, I am devoted to maintaining and continuing cultural competency work while also acknowledging the larger systems of power and oppression within our society to maintain an individualized person-centered approach to our time together. At times it can be difficult to verbalize our experiences and emotions. By utilizing art making in session, the body can reconnect with the brain and integrate emotion throughout the creative process. While engaging in this process can be intimidating, I will walk alongside you as we cultivate a space of vulnerability and learn to dismiss inner criticisms that no longer serve you. I also infuse art based approaches into our time together and focus on creating space for you to understand all parts of yourself, while gaining insight and setting down judgement.
I graduated from Adler University with a MA in Art therapy and Counseling, qualifying me as a Licensed Professional Counselor and pursuant of Registered Art Therapist credentials. I have experience practicing both talk and art therapy in a community mental health and family based setting as well as on an individual basis. My work has involved helping those who have struggled with parenting, depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, Survivors of sexual assault and abuse, Bipolar disorders, in addition to those grappling with gender and sexuality as well as other identity related issues.
