Hello everyone, my name is Kyle Donnelly! I have a background in storytelling, where I majored in theatre and minored in voice acting at Columbia College Chicago. As a counselor, I am interested in how both the counselor and client are both learning from one another through the therapeutic relationship. I have applied Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Theory to help clients overcome obstacles. I have a deep interest in doing in-depth research on psychology, from past thinkers to the current application of theories. I have written papers on applying dream-recall in therapy and studies on the imagination in connecting the maturity of adulthood and playfulness of childhood in the person’s development. I am also interested in fostering a healthy relationship between parents and their children from any background and age group. I enjoy researching the importance of different cultures, beliefs, and histories connecting families and communities in different times and places. Finally, I am deeply interested in learning what connects the body, mind, and spirit in the field of counseling. While reflecting on how counseling can mean “study of the soul,” I always aspire to have an attitude of wonder in learning about each person’s hidden potential and how relationships can inform one’s growth. I am always aspiring to assist children, adolescents, and parents in discovering the hidden potential and learning how to establish long-term relationships with family, friends, and those in their community.
