Hi, I’m Atalissa. I’m here to listen and support you as you navigate the journey of creating a life that aligns with your values and aspirations, while honoring the complexities of today’s world. You are a unique and resilient individual with strengths all your own. Together, we can identify and overcome the obstacles standing in the way of the life you want to lead. Even small, meaningful changes can create powerful ripple effects, not only in your life but in your community as well.
I hold an M.A. in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University, and I’m passionate about creating environments where empathy, introspection, and authenticity lead to self-empowerment. Whether I’m working with adults, adolescents, or children, I strive to cultivate a nonjudgmental, supportive, and safe space where clients feel empowered to explore, grow, and heal.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) through a trauma-informed lens. I also integrate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, bibliotherapy, and narrative therapy to meet each client’s unique needs. I am additionally trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
As a queer, neurodivergent counselor, I am especially passionate about affirming and supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals and fellow ADHDers.
The issues I commonly work with include (but are not limited to):
