Hi! My name is Shelley Stears and I am here to create a safe and supportive space for you. My goal is to empower you to experience long-term growth, utilizing strength-focused, trauma-informed, and evidence-based therapy. When working with children and adolescents, I utilize MultiSystem Therapy. Multisystem Therapy is recommended for intensive family intervention, designed to improve your child’s functioning in their major environments and relationships (home, school, community, peer relations). When working with children, and adolescents, the most common symptoms are: depression, anxiety, self-esteem, self-harm, school challenges, family conflict and separation, life transitions, trauma and stressor related disorders, and disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders.
When working with adults, the most common symptoms I treat are depression, anxiety and relationship conflict stemming from trauma. My approach is through a trauma lens, and together we would investigate your early life experiences and how they contributed to the way you navigate the world as an adult. Together, we determine which early life experiences left maladaptive patterns that are now negatively impacting you. Using modalities such as EMDR, we target those early life experiences to shift how you relate to yourself, creating a more accurate self appraisal and freeing you from self-defeating negative thinking patterns. Once free, you can experience your world and your relationships from a much more empowered place.
Together, we will connect with your inner strengths and enhance your skills in a calm, trusting atmosphere while navigating a path that fits your hopes and needs. I look forward to working with you and achieving goals throughout your journey!
