I believe the purpose of psychotherapy is to improve the quality of life for an individual, couple, or family. I believe that psychotherapy can lead to a more satisfying life for an individual,
couple, or family by improving their view of self, communication, and how they interact in relationships. I also believe that relationships play a major role in how individuals interact with themselves and the world and have an impact on their view of self. My approach to psychotherapy is based in systems theory, which means that I approach individuals, families, and couples from a view that they are affected by their relationships and different environments. Clients should expect to experience better communication, better understanding of self or others, and better techniques to resolve issues. I mostly utilize strategic family therapy models and use paradoxical interventions in order to help clients with their presenting problem(s).
I obtained my undergraduate degree in Criminal and Social Justice with a minor in Sociology from Lewis University located in Romeoville, Illinois. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University Online. I am a practicing Christian and am part of many groups where we work together to get through life. My experience as a wife of 11 years and an aunt to 10 children has given me a lot of experience with family and relational issues.
