Gillie D. Abdiraxman-Issa, MHP
Mental Health Provider
From my early days riding the CTA through Chicago, I discovered something powerful: every person carries stories that matter. Some stories lift us up, while others weigh us down. My calling has always been to help people rewrite the narratives that no longer serve them and discover the hope that’s been there all along.
Life has taught me that healing rarely follows a straight path. My journey has taken me through studies in financial decision-making, spiritual direction, and now clinical mental health—each step deepening my understanding that we are beautifully complex beings who need space to grow in multiple dimensions. Currently in my second year pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health at North Park University, I bring this rich background to my work with clients.
As a graduate level clinician, I’ve learned that the most profound moments happen when someone feels truly seen and understood. Whether you’re a woman feeling lost in life’s transitions, a family struggling to connect, teens or young adults trying to figure out who they’re becoming, or someone seeking to integrate faith with healing—I create space for your whole story.
Using approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Family Systems work, I help clients untangle the stories that keep them stuck and author new chapters filled with possibility. Because I believe your story isn’t over—it’s just waiting for the next beautiful chapter.
When I’m not in session, I’m usually walking by the water (it helps me think), traveling to collect new stories, lifting weights (because sometimes we need physical strength for emotional work), or perfecting my 5-cheese spinach lasagna (because comfort food is a love language).
