Mental Health Provider
Hi! My name is Stephanie Viruet, and I am a Graduate Level (GL) Clinician at Grace Integrated Elmhurst. I believe that every individual already holds the strengths and tools within them to create lasting change and improve their quality of life. My role is to walk alongside you in that process, using a client centered, trauma informed, and strength based approach. I bring my authentic-self into sessions, pulling from my experiences supporting people through trauma and complex-trauma, severe mental illness, domestic violence, systemic violence and oppression, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and struggles with coping.
I work with families and individuals of all ages to assist with navigating life’s many obstacles, with a special focus on Latine and BIPOC communities. Therapy can be a powerful tool for healing, clarity, and growth. My style is warm, trauma sensitive, and culturally grounded. I aim to provide a safe and brave space for my clients to unpack and explore topics, experiences, and their feelings on a deeper level, to promote healing, confidence, improved coping, and greater self and body awareness.
It’s important for me to understand my clients as a whole person within the context of their environment, as we build a strong therapeutic relationship. Relationships and human connection are great agents of change that bring about healing, resiliency, and recovery from trauma. You are not alone in this and I am honored to walk alongside you during this chapter of your life.
I am currently nearing the end of my time completing my Master’s in Social Work degree at Dominican University, as I continue my path to becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My journey to becoming a Therapist has been shaped by my experiences working with a diverse population of families and individuals of all ages, backgrounds and capacities, and has been informed by my work in the fields of Crisis Mental Health, Disability Access, the traditional health-care system as an EMT-B, Domestic Violence, and Case Management within a Latine-dominant higher-education institution.
I bring my authentic-self into sessions, pulling from my experiences supporting people through trauma and complex-trauma, severe mental illness, domestic violence, systemic violence and oppression, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and struggles with coping.
