As a clinician with specialized training in addictions, trauma and marriage counseling, I am here to accompany you on your journey of growth and/or recovery in a safe and judgement-free space. Together we will build the necessary tools to move towards a more actualized and fulfilling life. I will help you identify and amplify your personal strengths while you build the scaffolding for resilience and growth in the areas of life where you are currently struggling.
People approach therapy for a multitude of reasons. Some come seeking tools to better manage anxiety or depression. Some seek counseling for assistance with building intimacy within their relationships. Many others come because they realize their substance use has been negatively impacting their quality of life and relationships. Whatever your reason, I will be here to meet you where you are with a humanistic, person-centered approach to the therapy relationship that is also solidly grounded with evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused therapies and the Gottman method for couples.
My therapeutic philosophy includes being culturally-informed and sensitive to specific needs that arise in response to oppression. Whether you identify as LGBTQ+, an immigrant, someone with a disability, or you are a veteran I recognize the additional stressors that can arise within our societal context. I am a former Marine myself and I have advocated in the field of intellectual disabilities for 15 years.
The process of approaching therapy can be an experience that raises its own anxieties. While the hard work of growth won’t always be comfortable, I strive to make the therapeutic relationship a genuine and healing experience.
